I have started using Facebook Instant Articles for this blog. Instant Articles are mobile articles that are hosted on Facebook and use a streamlined HTML format. When you click on an Instant Article in the Facebook mobile app it opens in the app rather than in a browser. You can easily recognize Instant Articles on your Facebook mobile feed by the lightning-bolt or high-voltage icon (⚡) that appears on the upper-right corner of the shared article's attached image.
If you have a blog, you can start using Instant Articles by going to instantarticles.fb.com and completing the sign-up process. To be approved, your blog must have an associated Facebook page and you must submit some sample articles for review. (Click here for detailed instructions.)
What are the benefits of using Instant Articles? Well, for starters, according to Facebook, Instant Articles load up to 10 times faster than regular mobile articles by using the same technology used by the Facebook app to quickly display photos and videos. Facebook also says that using Instant Articles can increase readership by 20 percent, reduce bounce rates by 70 percent and increase sharing by 30 percent. Instant Articles can also be monetized using the Facebook Audience Network.
